31-year-old Kentarius Carpenter dead after an auto-pedestrian collision in South Nashville (Nashville, TN)

Authorities identified 31-year-old Kentarius Carpenter, of Memphis, as the man who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Thursday morning in South Nashville.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at about 7 a.m. in the 3900 block of Apache Trail. The early reports showed that the driver of a Ford Focus was heading east along a slight right curve when Carpenter ran across the roadway and got struck.

On arrival, emergency personnel rushed Carpenter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene after the accident. The roadway was shut down in both directions and was back open to traffic a little after 11 a.m. There were no signs of impairment at the scene, officials mentioned. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
