On Thursday, three people were hospitalized following a head-on collision in Paradise Township.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the area of Garfield Road at 1:37 p.m. after getting reports of a two-vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 39-year-old Traverse City woman was heading northbound on Garfield Road when she went over the center line and into oncoming traffic. One vehicle was going southbound on Garfield Road and it drifted into a ditch to avoid the collision.
A second vehicle also heading southbound was hit head-on by the woman’s vehicle. On arrival, paramedics took the 39-year-old woman to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City with unspecified injuries. She was listed in stable condition at Munson Medical Center. According to the officers, she had a blood alcohol level five times over the legal limit.
There were two occupants in the vehicle that was hit, including a 60-year-old Grand Rapids man and a 23-year-old Grandville man. They were provided medical aid at the hospital for non-fatal injuries and were released later that same day. No other details are made available.
An investigation is ongoing.
