The California Highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle crash in El Granada on Wednesday.
According to the officials, a section of Highway 1 at the Half Moon Bay Airport was closed on Wednesday for a period of time after three people were sent to the hospital with serious injuries.
The crash happened at 4:15 p.m. when a man driving an SUV swerved off the road and then veered into oncoming traffic. The California Highway Patrol Officer David LaRock stated that the SUV collided with a sedan on Highway 1.
The female driver of the sedan, the passenger and the driver of the SUV were rushed to the Stanford hospital with major injuries. Officials state that atleast one of the victims was airlifted from the scene.
The investigating officers suspect that the driver of the SUV was driving under the influence.
The incident is being inspected by the California Highway Patrol.
