29-year-old man dead after an auto-pedestrian collision in Macomb County (Sterling Heights, MI)

On Thursday morning, a 29-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a vehicle in Macomb County.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 4:15 a.m. on Mound Road, north of 17 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. The early reports revealed that a 29-year-old Detroit man was struck by a vehicle when he attempted to cross Mound Road. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.

The driver of the involved vehicle, a 21-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers. Officials said that impaired driving did not play a factor in the accident. Southbound Mound was shut down between 18 Mile and 17 Mile as crews worked at the scene, but has since reopened. No further details were provided.

An investigation is continuing.
