On Saturday, a 27-year-old man, from Greenville, lost his life while four people suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident in Sparta Township.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at Ball Creek Road and Sparta Avenue just after 7 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading north when a Ford Escape pulled in front of it and both the vehicles crashed.
The driver of the Ford, identified as a 27-year-old Greenville man, died of his injuries after the collision. A 28-year-old female passenger in the Ford was hurt but is reported in stable condition. It is unknown if she was taken to a hospital.
Two children, a 2-year-old and 1-month-old, were in the rear seat of the Ford when the accident occurred. The 1-month-old did not receive any injuries, but the 2-year-old incurred minimal injuries. Both occupants inside the Jeep, a 20-year-old Sparta man and 21-year-old Muskegon woman, were rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition. No further details were provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
