On Wednesday, authorities identified 26-year-old Michelle Ibarra and 28-year-old River Altamirano as the two victims who lost their lives when they exited their vehicle after a crash and got hit by vehicles while running across a freeway in National City.

According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, Michelle Ibarra, 26, and River Altamirano, 28, died from blunt force injuries after being struck by two different vehicles when they attempted to run across Interstate 805, south of Plaza Boulevard at about 8:25 p.m. Sunday.
