24-year-old man died after a fiery car crash in the North Park area (San Diego, CA)

A 24-year-old Chula Vista man lost his life following a fiery, single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in the North Park area.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place just after 2:15 a.m. on the southbound side of I-805 near University Avenue. The preliminary reports showed that a grey Toyota Camry swerved off the road and crashed into the center divider.

As the vehicle spun out, the driver was ejected from the vehicle and the car caught fire. On arrival, responders performed life-saving measures on the driver, but the man did not survive. The incident did not cause any other injuries.

Multiple lanes were closed down for at least two hours while crews worked at the scene. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the wreck. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
