24-year-old Grant Griffin died following a fiery crash in Ascension Parish (Ascension Parish, LA)

24-year-old Grant Griffin, a resident of Prairieville, was killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 431 north of Hwy. 621 in Ascension Parish just after midnight July 13.

Louisiana State Police Troop A confirmed that the accident caused death of Grant Griffin. In a statement, troopers stated that the initial investigation indicated that the incident happened as Griffin was heading northbound on Hwy. 431 in a 2001 Dodge Ram.

For reasons still unknown, the truck went off the roadway to the left and hit a culvert bordering the roadway. After colliding with the culvert, the Dodge was engulfed in flames.  Due to the extremity of the fire, it is unknown if the victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Griffin suffered major injuries following the crash and was declared dead on the scene.  As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was taken from Griffin and submitted for analysis.

An investigation is continuing.
