23-year-old Xavier Gonzalez-Mercado lost his life died and a woman was left in critical condition after a traffic collision near Broadway and Kolb in Tucson on early Wednesday, Nov. 24.
The preliminary investigation showed that Xavier Gonzalez-Mercado, 23, was heading west in the eastbound lanes of Broadway when his vehicle collided with another car. Gonzalez-Mercado was killed while a female passenger in his vehicle received life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident.
The driver of the second vehicle incurred minor injuries. Following interviews together with the roadway evidence, investigators determined that driving on the wrong side of the road by Gonzalez-Mercado played a major part in the crash. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
