A 23-year-old man, from Martinez, lost his life following a crash late Monday night in Glenn County.
As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place just after 11 p.m. near Bayliss, northeast of Willows. The preliminary reports showed that a car veered off County Road 39, also known as Bayliss Blue Gum Road, close to County Road S. According to the authorities, the driver drifted off the north side of the road onto the gravel shoulder near a curve.
The car, a 2006 Toyota Avalon, then rotated counterclockwise and skidded across the east and westbound lanes. The vehicle eventually slammed into an oak tree. The road was shut down for several hours overnight while crews worked at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other information is available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
