Authorities identified 20-year-old Sera Aintablian, of Pasadena, California, as the victim who lost her life following a motor vehicle accident early morning on Thursday, March 24.
The fatal wreck took place on the 101 freeway near Studio City. According to the authorities, at about 2 a.m., Aintablian was on her way home from her boyfriend’s place and was heading southbound on the 101 freeway near Studio City. Aintablian reportedly began to merge onto the eastbound 134 when she realized that she needed to stay on the 101.
She attempted to switch lanes to get over, then allegedly lost control of her car and crashed into a center divider near the Tujunga Avenue off-ramp. Her car split in half due to the impact. A driver of a red SUV apparently did not notice the wreckage and rammed right into it. The extent of injuries sustained by the driver and passenger of the second vehicle remains unknown.
Aintablian was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Aintablian’s boyfriend and his parents arrived at the scene shortly after and found pieces of her car strewn across the freeway. Aintablian was reportedly valedictorian of her high school graduating class and was on spring break from studying microbiology at UCLA. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
