2 people killed, 3-month-old girl hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision on I-20 (Atlanta, GA)

On early Sunday morning, two people were killed while a 3-month-old girl suffered injuries following a fiery crash on Interstate 20.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash was reported at about 5 a.m. on I-20, just before the ramp to I-285, in northwest Atlanta. The early reports showed that the Dodge Charger was stopped in a travel lane facing the wrong direction when a Chevy pickup truck tried to avoid a collision with the car. The driver of the Chevy failed to stop and crashed into the charger.

On arrival, responders found a Burgundy Dodge Charger on fire and an overturned truck a few lanes over. The driver of the Charger succumbed to their injuries at the scene. A man in the Chevy also died of his injuries after the accident. The female driver of the Chevy truck as well as a 16-year-old boy and a 3-month-old girl were transported to the hospital in unknown condition. Emergency personnel also transported a dog to the hospital.

The identities of the victims have not been revealed at this time. The fire lit up the night sky on the west side of town and officers blocked Interstate 20 down in order to allow firefighters to put out the flames. The highway has since reopened. No other details are made available.

An investigation is ongoing.
