On Friday, a man suffered critical injuries while a woman was hurt after they were hit by a pickup truck on the South Side.
As per the initial information, the auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 7:30 p.m. on Cadmus Street and L.C. Amos Jr. The preliminary investigation indicated that the couple, both in their 40s, was walking in the road when a silver pickup truck was traveling westbound on Amos.
The driver of the pickup informed the officers that he had a glare in his eyesight from the sun and failed to see the pedestrians in the road. Officials said that he ran over both of the victims with his truck. On arrival, medical personnel rushed the man and woman to the Brooke Army Medical Center.
The woman is listed in stable condition, but the man is in critical condition. According to the officials, the driver will not face any charges, as officers said that the crash was an accident. No additional information has been provided by the authorities.
An investigation is continuing.
