On Thursday morning, a 19-year-old man lost his life after his vehicle crashed into a tree in Ionia County.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle accident took place at about 6:30 a.m. on W Peck Road in Boston Township. The preliminary investigation showed that a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 19-year-old Grand Rapids area man, was heading eastbound when the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle and hit a tree.
According to the officials, the pickup truck was going at a high rate of speed when the collision occurred. The driver died of his injuries after the accident. He was not buckled up at that time. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
