18-year-old man dead, 1 person injured after a two-vehicle crash near Hastings (Rutland Township, MI)

On Monday morning, an 18-year-old man, from Kentwood, lost his life while a 53-year-old man, from Lowell, suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident near Hastings.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place a little before 10 a.m. on W. State Road near Agaming Street in Rutland Township. The early reports showed that a Ford Escape was traveling northwest when it went over the center line and crashed into an oncoming Dodge Ram. The driver of the Escape, an 18-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Ram, a 53-year-old Lowell man, was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. There was no early sign that drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision. The identities of the victims have not been revealed at this time. No other details are made available.

The crash remains under investigation.
