17-year-old Adam Boehme killed after a bicycle crash in Tucson (Tucson, AZ)

Authorities identified 17-year-old Adam Boehme as the teenage boy who lost his life following a two-vehicle collision early Tuesday in Tucson.

As per the initial information, the fatal bicycle crash was reported at about 8:30 a.m. near East 22nd Street and South Pantano Parkway. The preliminary investigation indicated that Boehme was driving his electric-powered bicycle west in the eastbound bike lane of East 22nd Street when he struck a blue 2018 Peterbilt 330 flatbed truck, which was pulling out of a private drive.

On arrival, emergency responders provided medical aid to the teen, but the boy finally succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the truck quickly stopped and cooperated with the authorities. It was found out that he was not impaired. Boehme was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

According to the investigators, the fact that Boehme was riding the wrong way against the traffic was the major cause of the accident. Officers do not expect issuing any citations or charges. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
