According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Irvine on Saturday.
The crash happened along the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near Jamboree Road at around 4 a.m.
According to the Orange County Fire Authority, two cars and a semi-truck were involved in the collision.
The officials stated that the vehicles were overturned and engulfed in flames.
According to the Police, a person was pronounced dead at the scene and 2 suffered major injuries and were rushed to a local hospital.
The officials are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or speed played a factor in the crash.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
