According to the California Highway Police, a fatal crash was reported on Tuesday morning in Pittsburg.
Officials confirmed that one person died and three people were injured due to the multi-vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 near Railroad Avenue.
A Dodge Durango collided head-on with a Honda Accord and a Toyota.
A tanker truck then struck the Honda once again.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.
The passengers in the Toyota and the passenger in Honda were rushed to the hospital sustaining injuries.
The identities of those involved have not been disclosed.
The driver of the Dodge was arrested by the police.
The crash is being investigated by the CHP.
