1 person killed after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 46 (Bakersfield, CA)

On Thursday afternoon, one person was killed while another person suffered injuries following a head-on crash on Highway 46.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle collision took place at about 2:40 p.m. near McCombs Avenue. The early reports showed that a westbound semi-crane truck crashed head-on into an eastbound van. The driver of the van suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.

Emergency crews took the truck driver to a hospital in unknown condition. Authorities said that impairment was not involved in the accident. The highway was shut down in both directions as crews worked at the scene. No additional information has been provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
