1 person killed after a two-vehicle collision in Austin (Austin, TX)

On Friday morning, one person died following a traffic collision in Austin.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash was reported at 4:57 a.m. in the 15100 block of North Interstate 35. The early reports revealed that the driver of the 18-wheeler was heading North of I-35 when they felt a jolt.

The driver pulled over and found a car under the semi. Officials confirmed that one person was killed as a result of the accident. The driver of the semi-truck remains unharmed in the accident. Speed contributed to the collision, officials reported.

North I-35 was shut down at FM 1825 as crews worked at the scene. I-35 was expected to be closed until 9 a.m. and traffic was directed to the frontage road at Wells Branch at Exit 247. No further details were provided.

The crash remains under review.
