1 person killed after a head-on crash on Highway 193 in Monterey County (Monterey County, CA)

On Wednesday, one person died following a head-on crash in Monterey County.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle collision took place at about 1 a.m. on Highway 193, north of Cooper Road. The early reports showed that a Ford Mustang and a big rig were involved in the collision.

According to the officials, the Ford exploded into flames and seemed to be wedged underneath the big rig after the crash. One person was killed as a result of the wreck. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
