1 person killed after a fiery crash in South Austin (Austin, TX)

On Monday evening, one person died after a vehicle smashed into a tree in South Austin.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place at 10900 South I-35 Service Road northbound near the area of Old San Antonio Road. The accident was reported at 7:53 p.m. The early reports showed that a vehicle slammed into a tree for undetermined reasons and caught fire that was later extinguished.

An adult suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Two other people were treated by paramedics, including an eyewitness who was attempting to help and an occupant of the vehicle. They both incurred only minimal injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital. No other details are made available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
