According to the California Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run accident occurred in Santa Clara County on Sunday.
The crash happened near Pacheco State Park on Highway 152 at around 1:53 a.m.
The officials stated that a 2007 Lexus and a Kia Optima were involved in the collision.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the Kia was identified as a 49-year-old man suffering major injuries.
The passenger in the Kia was identified as a 42-year-old woman and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officials are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or speed played a factor in the crash.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
