On Wednesday morning, at least one person suffered injuries following a crash that also brought down power lines in Benton County.
As per the initial information, the crash involving two semi-trucks took place at the intersection of WA-14 and S Plymouth Rd at about 5:00 a.m. The early reports showed that two semi-trucks crashed into each other for reasons that are yet to be known. At least one person suffered injuries as a result of crash; however, it is unknown how many people in total were involved or if their injuries were life-threatening.
Reports further added that the vehicles slammed into power lines and internet lines that service parts of Benton County and Umatilla County. Due to the collision, customers in Plymouth lost power, and internet access was gone in Hermiston for an unknown amount of time. Internet issues and power outages were experienced in Benton County and Umatilla County on Wednesday morning.
The Benton PUD Outage Map did not display any outages as of 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon that showed that service had likely been restored to all customers in the southern communities of Benton County. It is not known if internet access had been restored to customers in Umatilla County. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
