1 person hospitalized after a vehicle slammed into a restaurant in National City (National City, CA)

One person received injuries after a car smashed through a railing in front of a restaurant and crashed into a pillar holding up the business late Sunday evening in National City.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place at about 11:55 p.m. in the 1100 block of E. Plaza Boulevard. The early reports showed that the driver, who was on prescription medication, informed officers that he did not remember what happened and was unaware that he had rammed his car in front of the Slappy’s Burgers and Brews restaurant.

The driver was transported to the hospital, and he was expected to be evaluated for DUI. The car also struck an electrical box, leading to a brief power outage in the area. No other details are available.

The crash remains under investigation.
