1 person hospitalized after a traffic collision in Lynden (Lynden, WA)

On Thursday, one person was injured following a motor vehicle accident in Lynden.

Officers actively responded to the intersection of Hannegan and Abbott Roads at around 11:50pm after getting reports of a traffic collision. According to the firefighters, they were initially sent to the area of S 1st Street and Hannegan Road at approximately 11:25pm on reports of lines sparking and arcing.

Power was reportedly out in the area at that time. Responders evaluated the area within the city limits and found nothing. On arrival at the intersection of Hannegan Road and Abbott Road, officials found a sheared off power pole and a vehicle upside down against a barn building.

Responders had to take off the windshield to rescue the driver from the vehicle. The driver was taken by a medic unit through advanced life support (ALS) protocol to a hospital. No further details were provided.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
