The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle crash on Monday morning in Chandler. The accident happened close to Dobson and Ray Rd at around 1:20 a.m.
The rear of a Camaro was struck by a 2014 Dodge Avenger being driven by Mesa resident Jorrell Yazzie, 29, as it was moving north on Dobson Road. A third vehicle was struck by the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro being driven by a 43-year-old Chandler man as it spun into the southbound lanes of Dobson Road.
Chon Tran, 68, the driver of the third vehicle, was taken to a nearby hospital and later passed away. The driver of the second vehicle has severe injuries, including numerous broken bones and abrasions. His condition is listed as critical.
Yazzie is suspected of driving while intoxicated, according to the police, and speed is a probable cause of the fatal crash.
