One person died after getting struck by a BART train Monday afternoon south of the Hayward station.
As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident took place in Hayward. Authorities confirmed that the person had somehow gained access to the trackway at about 3:50 p.m. and “came into contact” with the train.
BART service was closed down between Bay Fair and South Hayward Stations but has since been restored. Residual delays were expected from this afternoon’s incident. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.
The incident remains under review.
