1 person dead after being hit by a vehicle in Scottsdale; impairment believed to be a factor (Scottsdale, AZ)

One person was killed after getting hit by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Scottsdale.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the area near Camelback Road and Minnezona Avenue at about 1:38 a.m. in response to a pedestrian crash. The early reports showed that a pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway when the incident happened.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The driver of the vehicle was investigated and later detained on suspected DUI-related charges. The roadway was shut down to the east and west for several hours while crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
