On Tuesday afternoon, one person died after getting struck by a Caltrain in San Mateo.
As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident took place just before 2 p.m. near the Hillsdale Station in San Mateo. The preliminary investigation indicated that the train was heading north when it hit a person who was trespassing on the tracks.
The person died of their injuries after the collision. Both tracks were back open by 4 p.m. None of the 44 passengers on the train received any injuries. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No further details were provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
