1 person dead after an auto-pedestrian crash on I Street near Seventh Street (Modesto, CA)

On Tuesday morning, a man lost his life after being hit by a car on I Street near Seventh Street in Modesto.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place at about 5:44 a.m. on I Street, close to Seventh Street and Eight Street while it was still dark, around 90 minutes before sunrise. The preliminary investigation showed that a westbound SUV hit an adult male pedestrian and he got pinned under the vehicle.

On arrival, firefighters extricated the man and rushed him to a hospital where he later died of his injuries. The officials will reveal the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin. Authorities said that the victim was not using a crosswalk at the time of the collision. The SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers.

The crash remains under investigation.
