1 person dead after an auto-pedestrian crash on I-24 near downtown Nashville (Nashville, TN)

On Friday morning, one person died after being hit by a vehicle near downtown Nashville.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 at approximately 1:15 a.m. The early reports showed that a car struck one person for reasons that are yet to be known.

The victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Eastbound traffic was redirected onto I-65 and the north loop for hours as crews worked at the scene. Eastbound lanes were back open at around 4:15 a.m. Friday. No other details are immediately available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
