1 person dead after an auto-pedestrian collision in San Diego (San Diego, CA)

On Tuesday, one person died after being struck by a vehicle near the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash was reported at about 8:25 p.m. on Interstate 5 at West San Ysidro Boulevard in San Ysidro. The early reports showed that a vehicle hit one person in either the first or second lane. According to the officials, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries after the collision.

All lanes on northbound Interstate 5 at Via De San Ysidro were initially closed for over an hour as crews worked at the scene, but the lanes have since been reopened. The identity of the deceased will be reveled once the next of kin is notified. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under review.
