On Sunday, one person died following a traffic collision on a West Side highway in San Antonio.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle accident took place in the eastbound lanes of Highway 90 near the Zarzamora Street exit at 2 PM. The early reports showed that the driver of a Ford F150 pickup truck was going on the highway when they moved the truck into the exit-only lane for Zarzamora Street for undetermined reasons.
After that, the motorist changed their mind and veered back into the right main lane, officials stated. At that time, another vehicle moved into the same lane and the driver of the F150 drifted to avoid a collision. The F150 turned onto the shoulder, hit a guardrail several times, traveled up on a barrier and turned the truck on its side.
After that, the truck slammed into a concrete pillar and ended up in the median. According to the officers, the driver was not buckled at the time of the collision and was partially ejected. The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
