On early Friday morning, a man lost his life following a single-vehicle accident on the city’s far West Side.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 1:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of SW Loop 410 on the access road headed southbound, close to Loop 410 and Marbach Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the male driver of a 2004 Mustang had just left a party and was speeding when he hit a puddle in the roadway, causing him to lose control of his car.
Afterwards, the vehicle collided with a utility pole, a tree, a fire hydrant and a metal railing over a drainage culvert. The vehicle was launched by the railing and rolled over. The vehicle finally came to rest on its roof. The reports further revealed that the driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, landing in the culvert.
He received major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Reports also added that a passenger inside the car had only incurred minor injuries. Officials said that alcohol might have played a role in the accident. Multiple agencies answered the call. No other details are immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation.
