1 person dead after a fiery crash in Carmel Valley (San Diego, CA)

One person was killed after a traffic collision Tuesday in Carmel Valley.

As per the initial information, the fiery crash took place just after 3 p.m. on Carmel Canyon Road, near Del Mar Heights Road. The early reports showed that a vehicle swerved off a Carmel Valley street, slammed into a tree and caught fire.

The victim, believed to have been a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident reportedly did not cause any other injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No further details are available.

An investigation is underway.
