1 person dead, 2 people hurt after a traffic collision in Compton (Compton, CA)

One person died and two people were hospitalized after a crash early Sunday morning in Compton.

As per the initial information, the fatal traffic collision was reported at 2:50 a.m. on the Long Beach (710) Freeway just north of Alondra Boulevard. According to the authorities, one person was declared dead at the scene while the driver and passenger of one vehicle were reportedly transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The CHP announced a Sig Alert closing down northbound No. 2 through 6 lanes just south of Alondra Boulevard, allowing vehicles to use lane No. 1 to get through. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation is underway.
