According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a motor vehicle accident was reported in Peoria.
The officials stated that the crash happened on the Loop 101 freeway when an 18-year-old driver made a U-turn hitting another vehicle near the Bell Road intersection.
The officials stated that both drivers were rushed to the hospital.
The 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the hospital by the authorities.
The 22-year-old driver is at the hospital in critical condition.
The DPS is investigating the crash to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the fatal crash.
The identity of the deceased victim is awaited by the DPS.
