A wrong-way fatal crash on Interstate 30 in west Fort Worth resulted in the closure of eastbound lanes Thursday morning. The accident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. near Lockheed Boulevard.
The collision involved a Dodge Caravan traveling west in the eastbound lanes, striking an eastbound 18-wheeler. Police responded to a wrong-way driver report at 2:32 a.m., discovering one victim dead and three others fatally injured.
The highway closure at Alta Mere Drive caused significant morning commute traffic congestion. Hours later, Fort Worth police reopened the freeway, having investigated for nearly 13 hours.
The multi-vehicle accident is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
