Officials identified 48-year-old Justin Meredith who died after a motorcycle crash in Anderson County (Slocum, TX)

Authorities identified 48-year-old Justin Meredith as the man who lost his life following a crash that happened on County Road 153 in Anderson County Thursday night.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers actively responded to the scene at around 8:45 p.m. Thursday. The fatal motorcycle accident took place about four miles southeast of Slocum. The investigation reports revealed that Justin Meredith, of Elkhart, was driving a 2014 Harley Davidson southeast in CR 153 when he came out of a curve at an unsafe speed and veered off the road.

The motorcycle then hit a culvert in the east ditch. Both the driver and the motorcycle came to a stop in the east ditch. Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace James Todd declared Meredith deceased at the scene. His body was shifted to the Herrington Funeral Home in Palestine.

An investigation continues.
