Authorities identified 42-year-old Jeff Lipary Jr., from Concord, as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle accident Saturday night in Vallejo.
The fatal motorcycle crash was reported at 8:35 p.m. on the Magazine Street off-ramp on Interstate 80. According to the investigation reports, Jeff Lipary Jr. was driving at a high-rate-of-speed and failed to negotiate the roadway. Lipary failed to maintain control of the motorcycle as a result of which the vehicle overturned, ejecting Lipary from his Harley-Davidson on the street’s eastbound freeway off-ramp.
Lipary and the motorcycle continued in an easterly direction, where he hit two posted regulatory signs in the median dividing the off-ramp and the on-ramp. He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at around 8:45 p.m., despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders. It is unknown if distracted driving, drugs and alcohol were involved in the accident. No further details were provided.
An investigation continues.
