Officials identified 34-year-old Anthony Coleman, of San Francisco, as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle accident Sunday morning on I-880 in West Oakland.
As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash took place on I-880 northbound near Seventh Street at around 12:34 a.m. A caller reported a body in the right lane. There was also a report of a rolled over vehicle nearby.
The preliminary reports showed that the BMW was using the carpool lane near the Seventh Street off-ramp when it struck the motorcycle from behind. The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities blocked all lanes and diverted traffic, and reopened the highway several hours later. No other information is available.
The accident remains under investigation.
