79-year-old Lewis Blackwell killed after a motorcycle crash in Orion Township (Orion Township, MI)

Authorities identified 79-year-old Lewis Blackwell, from Pontiac, as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle accident Monday in Orion Township.

The fatal motorcycle crash took place on Baldwin Road, west of Clarkston Road. According to the investigation reports, the man was traveling south on Baldwin Road, when he failed to maintain control of his motorcycle on a curve. Lewis Blackwell had just picked up his 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle hours earlier after it was modified to have three wheels.

Just then, he hit a curb and was thrown into a ditch. Blackwell was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was rushed to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. No further details were provided.

The crash remains under review.
