In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning, a fatal collision occurred in Tom Green County, resulting in the loss of one individual. The Texas Department of Public Safety released a statement confirming the unfortunate event.

The motor vehicle accident transpired at approximately 5:50 a.m. near the junction of Ratliff Road and U.S. 277. The weather conditions were reported as clear, and the road was dry at the time.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a 70-year-old resident of San Angelo, identified as Dale Edward Winey, was travelling south on U.S. 277 in his pickup truck. Regrettably, for reasons unknown, Winey failed to maintain a single lane.

This led to his vehicle crossing into the northbound lane and colliding with a pole. Winey was fatally injured and was pronounced dead in the fatal crash.
