Authorities in Antioch reported a fatal accident that took place on Thursday. The incident involved a motorcyclist, who was fatally injured in a collision caused by a speeding vehicle.
The victim has been identified as William Marlik Jr., aged 63, from Bay Point, according to the coroner’s office. The fatal collision unfolded around 2:08 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Deer Valley Road and Prewett Ranch Drive.
Authorities reported that Marlik was stationary at a red traffic signal when a speeding vehicle struck him from behind, resulting in his ejection from the motorcycle. Following the collision, Marlik was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver responsible for the collision remained at the scene and cooperated with traffic investigators. Police believe that speed and inattention were factors contributing to the motorcycle collision.
