The Texas Department of Public Safety announced the arrest of Antonio Rogelio Saenz Jr., 23, in connection with a fatal crash.
Saenz faces a charge of criminal negligence homicide.
The motorcycle accident occurred on Jan. 3, at 1:16 p.m., on FM 732 north of US 281.
The preliminary investigation revealed a cyclist heading north on FM 732, followed by a black Honda Civic driven by Saenz. The Honda collided with the cyclist, causing him to go airborne and land on the windshield.
The cyclist, identified as 59-year-old Rodrigo Villarreal of San Benito, was pronounced dead at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Saenz is booked into the Cameron County Detention Center pending arraignment. The community mourns the loss, and the investigation continues.
