59-year-old Frank Liles dead after a motorcycle crash in Smith County (Smith County, TX)

Authorities identified 59-year-old Frank Liles, from Tyler, as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Smith County.

Officers actively responded to the area of FM 16, approximately 6 miles east of Winona at around 4:09 p.m. after getting reports of a motorcycle crash. According to the investigation reports, a woman, from Van, was driving a westbound vehicle when she attempted to make a left turn from FM 16 into a private drive. At that time, Liles was traveling west on a motorcycle.

Just then, the driver of the vehicle failed to yield the right of way and crashed into the motorcycle in the westbound lane. Frank Liles suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Reports did not show that the driver of the vehicle suffered any injuries. No further details were provided.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
