On Sunday afternoon, 53-year-old Michael D Bates suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident on Butts Canyon Road.
As per the initial information, the motorcycle crash took place at about 1:30 p.m. on Butts Canyon Road, north of James Creek Road. The preliminary investigation showed that a southbound 2019 BMW F 850 motorbike swerved towards the northbound lanes and sideswiped a northbound 1993 Dodge Dakota pickup truck.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control and it hit an embankment into a canyon. On arrival, medics airlifted the motorcycle rider, Michael D Bates, to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital through helicopter. The pickup driver, a 23-year-old Fairfield man, remained uninjured. No other details are provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
