A tragic incident unfolded in Spanaway on Wednesday morning, leading to the death of a 47-year-old woman. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident, which occurred on State Route 7 near 174th Street and Spanaway Loop Road South around 4:30 a.m.
According to Sgt. Darren Moss of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle. Upon exiting her vehicle to check on the other driver, she was discovered unconscious.
Despite the efforts of the first responders, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are actively piecing together the circumstances surrounding the accident, as her passenger-side front window was found broken. A suspect remains at large, and law enforcement, including the S.W.A.T. team, is conducting searches in the vicinity of the accident site.
