According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Friday night in Pierce County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the pedestrian accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on SR-7 near 208th Street East. A car crash struck a woman walking on the roadway and subsequently collided with a shipping container.
The 47-year-old pedestrian woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time. The driver of the car was identified as 26-year-old Taylor Tavoli.
The driver of the vehicle and her 5-year-old child were rushed to the hospital, sustaining injuries. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
